Greg Fields

Greg Fields is the author of The Bright Freight of Memory, released by Koehler Books in November 2024. His previous novel, Through the Waters and the Wild, won the 2022 Independent Press Award for Literary Fiction, the Independent Publishers Association Award, the New York Book Award for Literary Fiction and two other national recognitions. His first novel, Arc of the Comet, was published in 2017. He is currently an editor for his publisher and is a regular presenter at the International Dublin Writers Festival.

Greg is also the co-author with Maya Ajmera of Invisible Children: Reimagining International Development from the Grassroots. He has won recognition for his written work in presenting the plight of marginalized young people through his tenure at the Global Fund for Children, and has had articles published in the Harvard International Review, as well as numerous periodicals, including The Washington Post and the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. His short nonfiction has appeared in The Door Is A Jar and Gettysburg Review literary reviews.

He has presented at numerous literary events, including the International Dublin Writers Festival in Ireland, Central Coast Writers Conference, the Virginia Writers Conference, and has participated in many others, such as the Pat Conroy Literary Festival, the Twin Cities Literary Festival, and the Bay Area Book Fair. Through his previous work, he has also presented at symposia focusing on international development, including Stanford University’s Global Philanthropy Forum, The Conrad Hilton Humanitarian Award seminar, the Synergos Institute’s University for a Night at the United Nations, and the European Foundation Centre’s general assembly.

He and his wife Lynn live in Manassas, Virginia.
