Dr. Randie S. Gottlieb

Randie Gottlieb, Ed.D., is the Founding Executive Director of UnityWorks, a non-profit whose mission is to promote understanding of the oneness of humanity, the value of diversity and the need for unity―with a focus on K-12 schools. She is also co-founder of the Mona Foundation, supporting grassroots educational development worldwide and raising the status of women and girls in the U.S. and abroad.

She has been a teacher at every level, a school principal and college professor; has authored 14 books; and holds degrees in education from Cal State, Boston University and Harvard. Her work has been honored with the Ansin Intercultural Research Award, the Washington State Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Education, Best Program of the Year Award by the National Association for Multicultural Education, and was highlighted as a model program by President Clinton’s National Initiative on Race.

She has also been chased by street gangs in Morocco, worked as a child actor in Hollywood, played volleyball as a spiker on Team USA, founded an elementary school in Puerto Rico, produced Spanish-language community-service radio and television programs, created Montessori math materials with the native Ngäbe-Buglé people in the jungles of Panama, and earned a bachelor’s degree in wood design. When not busy spoiling her grandkids, she also enjoys playing pickleball, contra dancing and writing poetry.
