As a child, Shannon was referred to by his friends’ parents as “That Odd Boy you hang out with.” His psychiatrist assures him this has caused no lasting psychological harm. He is a fourth generation Oklahoman descended from a long line of roughnecks and determined at an early age such work was not for him.
A voracious reader for most of his life, Shannon credits his love of the written word on a lack of proper television entertainment, the oppressively hot prairie summers, and the poor, wretched soul who pledged $1.00 per book during his 3rd grade reading drive. The blame for his belief that imaginary reality is better than actual reality falls squarely on the shoulders of George Lucas; the original Starbuck and Apollo; E. Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson; two weird uncles; and the eternal struggle between Autobots and Decepticons.
Shannon currently lives in Texas, funding his writing habit as a Business Analyst for a multi-national megacorp. He somehow manages to keep his amazingly talented, beautiful, and loving wife from beating him to death with one of his many vintage TRANSFORMER action figures in spite of his inability change light bulbs, clean the litter boxes, or take out the trash in a timely fashion.
