Beverly Hoffman Erickson

I was born in South Bend, Indiana and lived there for 32 years. I worked as a secretary for the

South Bend Community School Corporation and the University of Notre Dame. I briefly attended Ball State University with a vague idea of becoming a teacher. Meanwhile my interests lay in drama, newspaper delivery and coaching children's sports. I also began work with the Police Department as a Patrol Lady so I could work outside. After five years of South Bend's severe winters our family moved to Venice, Florida. There I became interested in writing about animals while attending college writing classes and with the Sarasota Vocational Classes. I also attended many workshops and business classes. Writing my family life history became one of my favorite groups. Later in life I was a file auditor for Nielsen Media Research and owned several businesses including Feather Fables Publishing Company and Photography. I published my first successful book, Skipper and Jade: A Love Story in 1993. It was followed by A Flower for Iggey which became a musical play. From there I went on to write three more books, Cockatoo Capers, TOY On Top of a Christmas Tree, and Gardner McKay: Is My Adventures in Paradise. I now reside in California to be near my four grandchildren and family and continue to enjoy concerts and drama and travel. I belong to The Reel Cowboys in Los Angeles area and the Elks and Vapor Trail Vettes and the Country Club social club.
