Michael A. Cole

Michael Cole is the author of “More Than Money: A Guide to Sustaining Wealth and

Preserving the Family.” His book provides a pioneering guidebook that integrates the concept of traditional tactical wealth management with strategic planning that families must understand to effectively manage significant wealth across multiple generations.

As the author of “More Than Money” and a leader in the Wealth Management industry, Michael is fulfilling one of his family’s core values. “My parents taught me and my two sisters that we are all citizens of a larger planet and that we need to look for ways to give back. For me, the greatest way to give back is to empower people who have great wealth to use their resources – both financial and personal – to do great things and make a positive impact on the planet.”

As the President of Ascent Private Capital Management, Michael spends the majority of his time sharing a vision for how families with significant resources can act strategically to make an impact with their wealth. “I believe there is no higher calling than to help people move in a direction that creates a positive change in how they manage their wealth and impact the world.”

Michael has more than 30 years of experience in working with families of significant resources. Prior to developing Ascent, Michael led the creation of Wells Fargo’s Family Wealth Group now called Abbot Downing. Before Wells Fargo Michael was president of Merrill Lynch Trust Company. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Emory University in Atlanta and is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®.
