Jo Allison

Jo Allison is the award-winning author of the Julia Nye mystery series. She has also written Storied and Scandalous St. Louis: A History of Breweries, Baseball, Prejudice, and Protest (2021), nonfiction solicited by Globe Pequot Press in response to the 1910s mysteries.

Allison drives family and librarians crazy with the depth of her research on the 1910s but delights readers who like their mysteries historical. There are five books in the series along with a supplement, a book called In-Between Murders: Stories that LINK and ILLUMINATE the Novels of the Julia Nye Mystery Series. .

One book in the series was judged Best Self-Published Novel by the James River Writers (for Virginia) in 2016. The Greater St. Louis Area Sisters in Crime chapter in 2015 highlighted the first two books in the series. Allison's short story that is the immediate prequel to the Julia Nye series took first place in the Virginia Writers Club Summer Shorts contest for 2015.
