Sean Henry

Hey! Well, thats me. Yep, me as a pirate (I'm the one on the right, in the red bandana :-). My name is Sean Henry, the Author of The Two Smitten Kittens.

First off, I am not really a pirate. I was just playing the part of a pirate in a Peter Pan play, which I proudly played to pretty much perfection. Wow, thats a lot of p's. Second, I would like to thank you so much for finding and hopefully Buying My Book!

So, I thought it would be good to share with you a little bit about myself. In 2014, I started Kitty Litterature Publishing after writing my first children's book, The Two Smitten Kittens. So, now a little about me. I was born on July 17th 1980 in Northampton, MA. My sister Colleen, brother Brendan and myself were all born in Northampton, but grew up and lived our whole childhood and adolescent lives in Vermont. I think we always considered ourselves Vermonters, (almost) born and raised.

Some fun facts about my family. My siblings and I were all born in July and all born two years apart. My brother Brendan was born on July 10th the same day as my parents anniversary. At one point even our family dog Tucker was born in July. So as you can see July was a big month for my family. I should also mention that Xia (the inspiration for my book) was born in July too!

My parents are Betty and Mike Henry. They are pretty much two of the best parents you could ask for. They are kind, caring and entertaining. They have always been a very positive and supportive influence in my life.

Some more fun facts. There was also another Betty and Mike Henry in town (of no relation) and they had a son named Mike Henry, who had the same birthday as my dad on February 17th. They also had a dog named Tucker too! I know...craziness.

Moving on, my father, Michael owned a restaurant called the Steak Out in Brattleboro, Vermont and my mother was always working with kids. While I was growing up, I always wanted to take over the family business. When the restaurant was closed during the day, my brother and I would spend countless hours running around. We would play hide and seek, tag and build forts. We loved it there!

In 2008, I purchased the Steak Out from my father. It was a great experience, both good and bad. I loved what I did and the people I worked work with, but unfortunately the business was not doing very well and I had to close it in 2012. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do, but you know what I did after that? I wrote a children's book. I know! I was shocked too.

Back in 2009, I had written a poem about a Smitten Kitten for Xia and her mom Sara. I even sent Sara a facebook message shortly after writing it and said, "hhmmm sounds like the start to a good children's book." So there I was, lets say, going through a little transitional period in my life. I had been working so many hours, non-stop at the restaurant and now I had all this free time on my hands. What was I going to do now...

Thats when I started working on The Two Smitten Kittens and I'm glad I did. It has been a lot of fun writing the story, along with everything that is involved with working on a children's book. It has been a great experience and I hope you enjoy my story as much as I enjoy it. Please share it with all your friends and family and heck even with people you just met! I am sure it will put a smile on their face.
