Boo Paterson

Boo Paterson is an award-winning Scottish artist and illustrator, creating papercuts, paper sculptures and pop-ups.

Her most recent book is First Art Kit: 25 Creative Papercraft Remedies for What Ails You, published by Simon & Schuster, and available for pre-order now. It combines common psychological problems with associated crafting remedies.

Her fine art, which has been displayed at the prestigious Royal Scottish Academy of Art, is conceptual in style and often influenced by real-life news events. She was a winner in the American Illustration Awards 2021, was shortlisted for the 2016 and 2018 World Illustration Awards, and has been featured in media world-wide.

Boo is also a UK national newspaper journalist and edits the New York arts and culture magazine booyorkcity.com. She divides her time between Scotland and New York and wrote The Greatest Speakeasies in New York City as a guide to Manhattan's secret bars.

Her 2016 publication, Papercut This Book, was created so adults could enjoy the meditative art of papercutting, even if they have no artistic experience at all. The BBC broadcast a short film featuring this book and the philosophy behind it.
