Jill Schilp is a non fiction author who has been reading and telling dog stories for as long as she can remember. Today she writes at the intersection of dogs and health care. She is passionate about dogs, the human-animal connection, and animal assisted therapy. She worked as a masters-level registered nurse ,in roles in health care quality and as a nursing educator before she retired to her present role as a humane educator and Dogwriter. Her work has appeared in books, journals, magazines, blogs and print media. She is member of the Dog Writers Association of America and a past winner of the DWAA Maxwell Medal Award for Best Blog . Her latest book, Dogs of the Railways tells the stories of canine vagabonds, mascots and guardians of the railways who hopped on trains in search of home, belonging and purpose.
