Captain Ed Hayes (ret)

Ed Hayes is a forth generation Law Enforcement Officer with a degree in the Administration of Justice. Part Cherokee Indian on his grandmothers side (don't know how much yet) he retired from the Johnson County Kansas Sheriff's Department at the rank of Captain after 29 years on the job. During his career in law enforcement he worked in every division of the Sheriff's Office including a special assignment with the Justice Department as a Federal Agent with DEA for nearly 3 years assigned to the Western District of Missouri. He worked undercover investigations for seven years in narcotics, stolen property and other law breakers.

Since retirement he has done volunteer work in several areas including being a member of the Chaffee County Colorado Search and Rescue team as a rescuer and pilot. He was appointed to the Chaffee County Colorado Jail Committee during the planning process of a new jail in Salida, Colorado. Hayes is a life Member of the NRA and a member of Oath Keepers. He is a member of the National Association for Search and Rescue an SAL Member of the American Legion and a past member of the Kansas Peace Officers Association and the Kansas Sheriff's Association.

An avid outdoorsman Hayes is a commercial Pilot, former parachutist, glider pilot, glider tow pilot, a downhill skier/racer, certified open water scuba diver, bicycles for pleasure/exercise, loves motorcycles and ATV’s, a builder and in his lifetime, has lived on a lake, an airport on the White River in Arkansas and built a house near Salida Colorado amongst the "fourteeners". Hayes worked for Colorado/Chaffee County Search and Rescue for 3 years as a rescuer and rescue pilot.

Hayes is married with three children, son and 2 daughters, two grandsons and three little kids in puppy dog suits.

Currently Hayes works on his own projects and as FNCIC web site administrator for Victims of Illegal Alien Crimes or voiacus.org. Hayes joined this cause over ten years ago after he became a member of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps where he was appointed States Director for Kansas and Missouri rising to Executive Director before his resignation from the MCDC for personal reasons. For the past two years Hayes has written a column for the Johnsons County Gazette news paper about law enforcement and Johnson County, Kansas law enforcement history.
