Dayananda

In 1967, I was initiated by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada, the founder of the worldwide Hare Krishna movement. At that time, he awarded me the name Dayananda.

For 29 years, I held management positions in Prabhupada’s organization while stationed variously in Los Angeles, London, Dallas, Tehran, Riyadh, Washington DC, Delhi, Calcutta, and New York.

For four years in India, I studied Vaishnava culture, Sanskrit, Hindi, and Bengali under the guidance of Professor Ramakanta Chakravarti, Anantaram Sastri, Professor Tulsiram, Mahant Ballabh Lal Goswami, and others.

I became fluent in Persian while spending three years in Iran. There, I studied Islam, Sufism, and Zoroastrianism and then expanded my knowledge of Islam during two years in Saudi Arabia.

I also worked for 25 years as an IT (Information Technology) consultant, retiring from IBM in 2005.

Since 2006, I’ve been researching, writing, and lecturing on the notion that essential aspects of Vaishnava culture provide solutions to environmental problems.
