Meg Sechrest

Meg is one of those authors who will say that she never dreamed of becoming a professional writer. She received a scholarship from the American Cancer Society in High school for an article she wrote on her struggle with brain cancer, and she always knew that her passion was writing, but she didn't pursue it as a career until after raising her family. She studied at Ohio University for a few years, focusing on English, but it wasn't until many years later that she started her first novel. She became a stay-at-home mom and studied at other academic institutions, writing a few short stories in addition to her academic pursuits. However, the idea for her first novel emerged when her husband's snoring kept her awake at night, and she couldn't sleep. That's how she started The Slayer. Several drafts later, she had a full-length novel. Today, she's written over nine novels and has even more underway. She is married to her high school sweetheart, having survived the ups and downs of rural Ohio together with their four children. She absolutely adores being a writer and wouldn't dream of any other life (except mom life, of course!). But don't ask her where she gets the ideas for her books, because her answer will always be that she has no idea, and she truly doesn't. Most of her inspiration comes from long walks, almond milk iced lattes, and perusing old cemeteries for the coolest retired names for characters she can find.
