Dr. Walter V. Collier, D.P.A.

His first book (2017), “Why Racism Persists: An Uncomfortable Truth," was a culmination of years of research and experience in the area of racism. The book delved into some under-explored reasons why many White Americans and institutions continue to be racist. This investigation aimed to open up honest dialogue about this most difficult problem. Dr. Collier's latest publication (2024), "Undeterred. But Again, Where Do We Go from Here? focuses on the extraordinary endurability of Black people through slavery, liberations, setbacks and victories. The book celebrates their hereditary, cultural and spiritual strengths and laments their weaknesses. The author ends by lifting up some critical and essential strategies for the future of the broader African American community.

Dr. Collier was born and grew up in Brooklyn, New York and currently lives on Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. He graduated from Brooklyn College with a bachelor's in psychology, earned a master's in social psychology also from Brooklyn College, and a doctorate in public policy analysis from New York University’s Graduate School of Public Administration (Wagner School). For most of his professional career, Dr. Collier worked as a social science researcher, public policy analyst, and strategic planning consultant for public and private organizations. He also authored numerous research articles and other pubications.
