Laura Knight

Author, Laura Knight, knows a few things about sea life. She's a surfer, animal lover, and volunteers at beach cleanups every month along the coast of Southern California. As a child, she attended a Science Magnet Elementary School in Los Angeles where the school curriculum exposed her to topics within Earth and Life Science.

The art of storytelling has always been Laura's passion, hoping to inspire children to 'be your best' through heroic and unforgettable characters. She spent 15+ years as an accomplished Art Director in the toy industry, managing many popular children's brands...yet, her fascination and appreciation for our planet was reignited after a visit to a Marine Mammal Rescue Center, where she witnessed the rehabilitation of a sea lion that was injured by ocean pollution.

Laura was then motivated to write a children's book with the purpose of encouraging children to be responsible and care for our environment. She joined forces with her sister and friend to create a completely unique book that incorporates illustration and photography within a single storyline. "Spot: a sea pup's survival guide" has become popular amongst teachers, children, and parents in Laura's community and she is very proud to finally make it available via Amazon!

Laura's dedication to protect our oceans and helping others, has led to a full-time venture committed to publishing kid's books that make a difference! Laura is working on a series of more books, focused on the message to "Be kind to the planet. Be kind to each other."

Look out for her next project, the Imagination Journal for Doodlers! She is constantly posting updates and events through her Author's website at FriendlyPlanet(dot)Club
