Roy Williams

Roy Williams is a writer, martial artist, and senior leader working in health and care in Wales. His professional career sits at the intersection of technology, data, and public service, where he leads complex national platforms that support patient care.

Alongside his work in digital health, Roy has spent decades in the martial arts world. He is a 7th degree black belt in Feng Shou Kung Fu and a 4th degree black belt in Li Style Tai Chi, and has been inducted into the UK Martial Arts Hall of Fame. His training extends beyond technique into teaching, personal development, and the practical application of self-defence.

His broader interest in health and the human body led him to qualify in sports therapy and to study Traditional Chinese Medicine, exploring both Western and Eastern approaches to movement, recovery, and wellbeing. That dual perspective, science on one side, traditional systems on the other, continues to shape how he thinks and writes.

Academically, Roy holds a BEng (Hons), an MBA, and a Master’s in Big Data and Business Intelligence, graduating with distinction. That mix of engineering, business, and data analysis tends to underpin his work, even when it is not immediately visible on the surface.

As an author, Roy is drawn to stories that explore growth, identity, and the balance between strength and compassion. His writing often reflects lived experience, blending structured thinking with more philosophical themes, which may explain why his work carries a grounded, human edge even in more imaginative settings.

When he’s not working or writing, he is usually teaching, training, or developing courses that combine traditional martial arts with modern approaches to personal safety and wellbeing.
