William Wiggert

The writer William Wiggert tries to stay in the background and therefore to work under a penname. He acts as a historian while now counting some decades of experience including an engineering degree. In this environment he portrays a characteristic “team of one” that might be called an "Open Ivory Tower". The ideas for his books mostly arise on detailed historic research in Libraries, Universities, Federal Archives or other locations. The author usually needs more than a year of intensive work for one book including several hundred pages. In his booklets, in which he always tries to report from different viewpoints, the author provides the reader with informational scenes relating to the present, the past, and especially in direction to the future. So we never should forget that only those who have analyzed the past in detail might be able to forecasts the future.

In addition to the utmost care and planning in advance his principles include the accurate historical research whereby the strategy of his story adapts to the historical setting and not vice versa. To maintain the reader's interest, he incorporates turning points in his stories from time to time. A respectable novel, according to the author, must contain fifty dramatic scenes. In addition to the narrative perspective, the story jumps back and forward between different persons and storylines, whereby the individual backgrounds of the characters are examined in detail.

The single characters in his novels are mostly young, charismatic heroes, with the author's preference for strong female characters fighting the barriers of their own time. The author also places a certain value in his books on avoiding as far as possible extravagant depictions of the love life and explicit representation of violence. His stylistic hallmarks include the most exact representation of the described facts as well as substantial objectivity, but sometimes presented in a not easy to understanding way. In other words with quite a bit of specialized vocabulary.
