Karen Marshall

Karen Marshall is a best selling author in Piano Educational Publications with over 30 titles to date. She is a classroom, peripatetic and private music teacher working with students from 4 to 60 years plus. Her writing is steeped in her ongoing music teaching practice. Specialising in multi-sensory music teaching, Karen is a member of the British Dyslexia Association's Music Committee and trains teachers country wide on the topic. Karen is a regular speaker and presenter previously speaking at ABRSM, Music Expo and MU teacher conferences. Also a regular workshop leader for various schools and colleages, Music Services/Hubs and piano teaching groups across the UK on a whole range of topics. She has previously run school choirs and regularly supports community music voluntarily. Karen is qualified Kodály practitioner, a mother of three, former student of the late Christine Brown, who is passionate about bringing the joy of music to all her students. She is published by Faber Music, Collins Music and ABRSM Publishing and also regularly contributing to Music Teacher Magazine. She has co-authored with Heather Hammond, Penny Stirling and David Blackwell. Get Set! Piano and Get Set! Piano - My First Piano Book are best selling beginner piano titles. Her most resent titles are for adult and teen learners - Couch to Concert (Get Set! Piano) and Music and Neurodiversity teacher and parent guide (both with Collins Music). Karen's award winning Faber Music Piano Trainer Series (7 books - a post Grade 1 curriculum to Grade 8) is internationally published and was launched in Music China in 2020. Karen's book Piano Trainer Scales Work book (along with the Piano Trainer Scale Challenge - a teacher assessed programme) was launched in February 2021. Her Story (The Piano Collection) also published with Faber Music was a finalist in the Music in Excellence awards 2023 for the best Printed resource.
