J.C. Nord

I was born in New London, Connecticut in 1990. I started working at the age of 16 as a cart pusher at Cub Foods. Though it was not my first job, it was the first long term job I had. Before hand I worked as a janitor at Pok Sekura Japanese restaurant as well as dollar days. If I could get a job, I would usually learn quite fast as to what was expected of me. At 19, I joined the Army and made it a career for 7 years.

I started with poetry when I was in 5th grade. I had a knack for poems which indicated the changing of the seasons. Though I don't quite remember it, I placed second in a school competition with "Autumn Fire."

Going through each grade in school, I wasn't much of a sociable person. I would always have a book in my hand as I went into each class. I let my grades decline just so that I could peer into the world of Harry Potter or Eragon. As years progressed, I read many books and came up with my own writing style through my favorite authors. Any class I took, I did subpar. Every class until I took creative writing. My teacher, Justin Blair gave our class a short story assignment. While the others made a three page story, I filled an entire notebook.

Mr. Blair was the first to reach out and really get me into the world of writing. He is and will always be my inspiration.

A few years back, a month before I deployed to Kuwait, I tried my luck at writing and came up with A Wizard's Birth: Awakening. I wrote four chapters, didn't like them and scrapped them. When I returned from Kuwait, I went through a horrific experience with my recent ex wife. In order to escape the drama of my life, I plunged myself into a world of my making. By October of 2016 I had completed A Wizard's Birth and continued on to the second novel.

I have always loved to read, yet I've always coveted the worlds in which my favorite authors had made. It has always been my dream to make my own world, one in which others might learn from. A world of pain, suffering, loss. Yet also a world of beauty, love and hope. I am proud to be the author I am today, whether rich nor poor, I do what I enjoy.
