Sidsel Munkholm McOmie has been an avid cook for much of her adult life, and has delighted in cooking not only for friends and family, but she also cooks occasionally for strangers, as an in-house chef. Her first book was called Hygge - Danish Food and Recipes which showcases her Danish background and the food she learned to make cooking with her mother. Born in Denmark, but raised in Canada, she says, " I wanted to tell people that there is more to Danish food than Danish Pastries, as good as they are. We have a rich and varied food background. The recipes in the book are mostly the ones that I learned from my mother and ones that I've been making most of my adult life. They're the everyday meals many Danes eat."
She now has an additional two cookbooks out. Nibbles and Bites - A Compilation of Appetizers, Canapes and Finger Foods with the most recent cookbook being Simple Shrimp Recipes -25+ Easy Shrimp Appetizers, Entrees and Dipping Sauces.
She released her first novel, set in the Florida Panhandle, called YANK MY CHAIN, Elle’s Story. YANK MY CHAIN is a thriller with a paranormal twist, and is projected to be the first in a series which features Elle’s siblings. She also says she couldn’t resist adding recipes to this latest book as well. She describes it thus ‘When Elle discovers the body of a young woman in the forest – She becomes part of the target of a killer on a murder spree that began 20 years earlier in her hometown. Don't worry, Nana's there, protecting and helping.
Currently hard at work getting Kay’s story on paper. She’s also finishing the final edits on a dystopian story, hoping to have it published by the end of the year.
She has also won several cooking contests, placing third in her most recent one, a recipe contest held by Healthy Solutions Spice Blends. She also won the People's Choice in the first two Crab Cake Cook Offs held in Carrabelle, Florida.
