Joan Enders

Educator, school librarian, speaker and genealogist, Joan Enders published her first book, Evidence is Lacking, Yet I Still Hope, after six years of field testing history inquiry with U.S. History teachers and students. Semper Fi: Idaho to Iwo Jima is her second inquiry book for educators and students.

Joan and her husband enjoy traveling around the country visiting grandchildren. Quilting is one of her bad habits, right up there with binge-watching P&P and LOTR series.

Her career involved teaching literature and research skills to middle and high school students. She is an advocate of full-time librarians in every school and was a recipient of the American Association of School Libraries Frances Henne Award for librarian leadership. She loved her jobs to distraction. Once she stayed so late during the summer, the custodians, thinking everyone was gone, trapped her in the school with freshly waxed floors.

Joan's books tantalize students into peeling back personal stories involved in big history, through their detection and their inquiry. A mystery snags students every time
