Bill Bymel

A real estate investor and broker, Bill Bymel has invested in, managed, and brokered real estate, and provided mortgage servicing consultation for major financial institutions and private equity partners for over twenty years.

Bill currently serves as CEO and CIO of First Lien Capital, a privately owned distressed mortgage investment platform he co-founded in 2021, which focuses on the acquisition and timely resolution of sub-performing, non-performing mortgage loans on residential or commercial real estate.

Bill literally wrote the book on loss mitigation for non-performing loans (NPLs) with his 2017 publication of Win-Win Revolution, An Insider’s Guide to Investing in the Secondary Mortgage Market. Bill’s focus on compliance minded, borrower driven mitigation led to the founding of First Lien Resolutions in 2024, FLC’s third-party advisory and special servicing firm.

An innovative speaker and author, Bill hosts a weekly podcast Debt Doctor and previously the Real Estate Lowdown. His newest book, The Storm: Markets Meet Mother Nature has received critical acclaim since release in April 2026.

Bill currently resides in Las Vegas, NV with his 29-year-old army veteran son and two dogs. Bill is a US Soccer referee, member of the Citizens Bond Oversight Committee for City of Beverly Hills, and a graduate of New York University’s Tisch Film School, producer of several award-winning films.
