Tara Tuck began her career as an educator teaching elementary school in Massachusetts, and she developed one of the first self-contained classes for students with severe language disabilities. She earned a bachelor's degree at Lesley University, a master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology at Boston University, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She worked for many years as a speech-language pathologist, specializing and instructing teachers in the inclusion of special needs students in the general education classroom. She has extensive experience with children from preschool to high school. Ms. Tuck currently teaches graduate courses in Linguistics and English as a Second Language for Lesley University in addition to her work with parents, caregivers and preschool teachers through The Joy of Language publications, seminars and web site. The Joy of Language: The Guide to Language and Learning for Parents and Caregivers is a well-researched, but enjoyable and easy to read, guide that answers the myriad of questions parents have about the development of speech, language and learning. It is a book that should be in every parent's library.
