Richard Fenwick

I'm a poet, an author and a Russian translator who works with Holocaust survivors from the former Soviet Union. My poetry has been published in numerous quarterlies and journals over many years, to include Rattle, The Virginia Quarterly Review, The Adirondack Review and numerous others.

My first poetry collection, "Around the Sun Without a Sail," was published in 2012. A second collection, "The Weight of Lilies," is slated for publication in early 2018. I'm also the co-editor and translator for a book of autobiographical Holocaust accounts, "To Tell Our Stories: Holocaust Survivors of Southern Arizona."

I entered the U.S. Air Force in 1978 and attended the 55-week intense Basic Russian language course at the Defense Language Institute. After another year's worth of intelligence courses and survival training, I flew strategic reconnaissance missions on various versions of the RC-135, as well as numerous specially configured C-130 aircraft. I retired from the Air Force in 2000.
