Michelle Baker earned her PhD in English Language and Literature from the Catholic University of America in 2008. Eschewing an academic career for an entrepreneurial one, she founded Conservation Writing Pro and EnviroEdits. Through the former, she teaches environmental scientists how to write more clearly; through the latter, she helps them do so in documents such as Species Status Assessments, Habitat Conservation Plans, and technical reports. Her first book, Writing in the Environmental Sciences: A Seven-Step Guide (Cambridge UP, 2017) demystifies the writing process for environmental scientists, helping them communicate more clearly so that our world’s natural resources can enjoy greater protection.
