Mark Leech is Tasmanian born and raised. He has been involved with the forestry industry his whole life, and 12 years ago he started his research into the bee keeping industry. Mark is a reluctant author, often more interested in researching new information and taking pictures, than writing. However his passion for bee forage and nutrition couldn't be contained! Mark has been awarded the 2001 Tasmanian World Forestry Day Award and the 2016 Richard Stanton Memorial Award for Excellence in Sustainable Forest Management.
Mark is a humble backyard bee keeper; managing five bee hives in various locations. Last year they generated over 500 kg of honey throughout the year, and used the honey sales to build a bakery in Haiti.
With his beautiful, German wife Susanne, together they have traveled to every continent helping the poor whenever they go. They have a long term supporting commitment in Malawi, Mark recently spent time there teaching children about bee keeping, as a result they have a Kenyan top-bar hive working out of a orchard they helped establish at the Iris Africa base. To God be the glory.
