Cara Fucci. AKA The Sunny Sailor, is a storyteller, illustrator, and sea-loving soul who has been writing children’s books for over 30 years. Her work helps children connect with their imagination, their feelings, and the wonder of the world around them. From her first title, Ollie Loves Socks, to her latest underwater adventure Wes and the Wonderwhale, Cara’s books are filled with vibrant imagery, heartfelt messages, and playful rhymes that resonate with young minds and their grownups.

Raised in a lively home with many siblings, Cara became an aunt at a young age and quickly found joy in entertaining children through animated storytelling. As a mother, she cherished reading aloud and began crafting imaginative tales meant to be shared out loud. A lifelong painter, she blends her colorful art with storytelling to bring whimsical worlds to life.

When she’s not writing or painting, Cara can be found sailing through the tropics, chasing inspiration (or an octopus), and dreaming up her next adventure at sea—often with her grandchildren at the heart of it all.
