DEREK DORRIS

Derek Dorris was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1978. He has a doctorate in Psychology, over ten years' experience in the field of martial arts, and is also a black belt instructor in Wing Chun Kung Fu. In 2017 Derek published his first novel, "Earthly Dragon, Soaring Palm", a martial arts fantasy set in the fictional ancient world of Wulin. This novel was first the instalment in a mythology series entitled "The Frog and the Well". While the series is written in the Jin Yong tradition of "wuxia" , it reverently updates the genre by emphasising the complex interaction between psychology and martial skill. In 2019 Derek published the follow-up to his first novel and the second instalment in the Frog and the Well series, entitled "Divine Tiger, Heaven Palm".
