Fraser Newman is the debut author of "Into This Wild Abyss" and co-owner of Atlantis Books, located in the central North Island of New Zealand. He has a varied background in education, marketing, governance and book selling. Among other things Fraser once stood for election in local politics. Fortunately for his readers he lost by 393 votes.
Languages are one of Fraser's key passions and one of the things that got him into fantasy in the first place. After taking an interest in Tolkien's created works, Fraser delved into Old English and the runic alphabet. During high school he studied Arabic in after school classes, and at university he got a scholarship to study Mandarin in China for a year. After university he returned to China to manage a private English training school in Sichuan province. He now speaks Chinese at home with his wife and three children.
Apart from writing, Fraser's hobbies include reading, art and animation. He has a large Warhammer 40k collection (okay, tiny by many standards) and enjoys renovating the family home. Whether this actively results in improvements is up for debate.
