Tanie Miller Kabala Ph.D.

Dr. Tanie Miller Kabala received psychology training at Georgetown, George Washington, and George Mason Universities, and the University of Delaware. She earned her Ph.D. with honors in 2003 and has practiced psychology in multiple settings, including community mental health centers and university counseling centers.

Dr. Kabala currently works in private practice, where she specializes in treating individuals before and after weight loss surgery. She travels the country speaking to weight loss surgery patients about healthy coping after surgery and has published a self-help book titled "The Weight Loss Surgery Coping Companion." In it, she provides post-weight loss surgery patients, many of whom have a history of using overeating as a coping mechanism, with healthy new strategies for coping with challenging feelings.

Additionally, Dr. Kabala has a passion for using meditation and relaxation exercises to help her patients relieve stress, sleep more soundly, reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, build mindfulness, and achieve a greater overall sense of well-being. She enjoys offering meditation and relaxation classes to her community and has recorded "Rest and Restore: Guided Meditations and Relaxation Exercises for Stress Relief, Mindfulness, and Peaceful Sleep." She also just recently released "Your Peaceful Place: Children's Meditations for Relaxation, Stress Relief, and Restful Sleep" for children of all ages. Both albums can be found on Amazon.
