Thomas D Haury was born and raised in the farmland of north-central Ohio. He grew up hunting, fishing and trapping with his father, uncle and two brothers. A love of the outdoors, nature and old fashioned American values were instilled in him by his parents. He played football and golf in high school, attended Kent State University briefly before moving to Colorado and marrying his high school sweetheart. Tom and his wife Jill have been married 34 years and have two children, one granddaughter and 1 grandson. Hunting Elk in Colorado impressed upon Tom the true skill required by military snipers and eventually brought about the writing of his first novel “Casting a Shadow”. A life in industry as first a tool and die maker, then an industrial designer has provided Tom and his family a good life. Tom and Jill now reside in Salado, Texas but hope to one day live along an ocean beach. “The sound of waves crashing on the beach calms the soul, and allows my mind to wander,” Tom likes to say. “Some of my best writing is done entirely in my mind while walking the beach or lying in a hammock. The hard part is having to leave the shore and go somewhere to actually write it down.”
