Dorothy Topfer

I have always loved telling stories. As a little girl I would tell myself stories before I went to sleep. Then I learnt to read and there was no stopping me. I read everything. One year when I was about 10 years old, the teachers said reading fiction was bad for me and I should only read non-fiction. Then I discovered mythology which was as exciting as fiction.

I like to write about things that interest me – families, animals, old houses and nature. I have a farming background and am very interested in exploring a person’s connection to place.
