Rick Bailey

Rick Bailey grew up in Freeland, Michigan, on the banks of the Tittabawassee River. He taught writing for 38 years at Henry Ford College in the Detroit area. While writing textbooks for McGraw-Hill, he also wrote with the writing classes he taught, a work habit that eventually led to a blog of essays on family and friends, food and wine, travel, and currrent events. Married to an Italian immigrant, his experience living and traveling in Italy informs his writing. His blog became the basis for his first book, American English, Italian Chocolate. Since then he has three more collections of essays--The Enjoy Agenda, Get Thee to a Bakery, And Now This--and a memoir, Tumbling Up. Just published, a novel, Drop and Add, features a young college teacher who works as an adjunct and supplements his income bagging groceries and singing in an all-falsetto band at a country bar.
