Tsila Glidai

I'm Tsila Glidai, and writing has always been my passion. I've been a high-school English teacher in Israel for over 30 years, and I love making up rhymes, stories and songs to help my students learn what they consider to be a difficult and challenging language.

I am fortunate to be the mother of eleven wonderful children- eight daughters and three sons, as well as a loving grandmother to - well I'm not counting. Sapphire, the bright and curious little girl who appears in all my stories is my oldest granddaughter. I try to fit the names of the rest of my grandchildren into my stories whenever I can, but it's not always easy getting the modern Hebrew names to fit into an English story. My husband and kids are very excited about my new career as an author of children's stories, and they are always happy to offer their ideas in our "brainstorming" sessions. I am so thankful for their love and support!

I have recently uploaded my first nine stories to Amazon Kindle. The series is called:

"Tell Me A Story, Grandma Glee."

Book 1 is called: "Perry the Fairy and Her Tail." Grandma explains to Sapphire why Fairy stories are called "tales" through a delightful story about a poor fairy named Perry who was very sad because she had a long white tail! Book 2 of the series is called: "Poppy and the Popcorn." Here Sapphire finds out how popcorn was discovered, through the humorous story of Poppy, a mischievous little Indian girl who liked to conduct experiments.

Book 3 is called: "The Land Called Frame." Grandma teaches Sapphire the importance of liking yourself the way you are, through an enchanting story about a land called Frame, where everybody looked the same! It wasn't such a good idea after all! You'll have to read the story to find out why.

Book 4 is called: "Marvelous Marva and the Magical Marbles." Here Grandma comes to visit her granddaughter Sapphire and brings her a bulging bag of marbles that were hers when she was a young girl. She tells Sapphire all about her wonderful friend Marva who helped her out when she was being bullied in school. Sapphire learns the meaning of true friendship and how a friend can work wonders when she believes in you and stands up for you when you are being bullied.

Book 5 is called: Roni And Her Pony. Sapphire confides in Grandma that she feels badly because grown-ups keep telling her that she's too small to do this, too small to do that... it's so exasperating! Grandma tells her beloved granddaughter about Tip - the pony that wanted to be a racehorse! His legs were too short, it was just impossible. But his owner, a delightful little girl named Roni, showed him that he could do things that big horses can't do! Sapphire also realizes how many things she can do despite her small size, and the pain is erased from her heart. Until next time of course. What did Tip manage to excel in? Book six is called: Oakey The Oak Tree. Sapphire's parents tell her that they must move away because Dad got a new job up north. Sapphire is terribly upset. She doesn't want to leave her beloved home, her friends, her school. When Grandma Glee comes over to help out with the moving, she ends up by taking her little granddaughter for a walk and telling her all about Oakey the Oak Tree - the ancient tree that was very upset that everyone kept leaving him and he couldn't move anywhere! Book seven is called: Stuttering Stanley And The Singing Spring! Grandma has a real challenge this time- how can she scold her beloved granddaughter Sapphire for joining her friends at school in making fun of Samantha- a new girl with a terrible stutter? She does so by telling her all about Stuttering Stanley- a stuttering boy who was ridiculed until people discovered that he was the only one who had the magical gift to save their town from a terrible drought! Grandma skillfully weaves a tale to show Sapphire how no one should ever be laughed at- there is magic in each and every one of us! What will Sapphire do now? Get your copy today to find out!!!

Book 8 deals with a common problem. It's called: Finny The Fish And His Secret Wish! Is your child or anyone else you know afraid of the water? Sapphire is terrified of going to the pool, but she doesn't dare to tell her mommy. Grandma Glee comes to the rescue as usual with a charming tale about Finny the fish: Have you ever heard of a FISH that was afraid to swim?!!! Book 9- Cousin Ozzy And The Light Charms Of Oasis! In the magical land of Oasis, nobody needs to share their feelings! All you need to do is to glance at the charm bracelet of the person next to you and you will instantly know how they feel! What a great system, right? But what happens when the bracelet breaks? How do you tell people how you feel, if you've never done so before? Grandma Glee tells this story to Sapphire to explain the importance of telling your feelings to others. You can't expect them to understand unless you tell! Ozzy finally discovers this, and so does Sapphire. Telling isn't easy, but it's the best way there is!
