After spending 17 years running a private college, I realised I’d become pretty much unemployable — so I took the leap into self-employment and founded Tadpole Training, my own sales training business. What started as a small idea quickly grew into a passion: helping people discover that selling can be simple, authentic, and even enjoyable. In 2024 I launched The Adaptive Sales Group, as a sort of one-stop shop for all things to do with sales, but with the main focus still on sales training.

I’ve always been a writer — of guides, blogs, course materials, compliance manuals, and the occasional academic paper — but there was quite a gap between my first book, How to Get Your Dream Job in Social Housing, and my new title, Small Business Sales Dilemmas. The thrill of seeing my words in print is still very much alive, and I have plenty more ideas bubbling away for future books.

If my writing helps readers to grow, develop, improve, or simply feel more confident, then I feel I’ve done my job. My books are written with warmth and practicality — they’re about real people, real businesses, and real progress.

I live in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, with my two lovely children, Ben and Olivia. When I’m not training or writing, you’ll usually find me pottering in the garden, enjoying a bit of quiet among the green things and my 6 rescue chickens.

I don’t expect my books to change the world, but I do hope they change the day-to-day experience of the people who read them. If something I’ve written helps you take one confident step forward, then that’s the best reward I could ask for.
