Demari Harris

I enjoyed writing from an early age, however, I grew tired of writing easily. This left me with my other passion: drawing. This too didn't fully allow me to express my stories the way I truly wanted to. I went back to writing and took the old ideas I had and revised them. The outcome? Beyond Terrene! Not only did my inspiration create this book, but it also led to the entire soon to be series!

Interview with Demari Harris

-When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?

I enjoy reading, as well as drawing.

-Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?

I believe it was about two friends; Drew and Drake. They were spies and they had to take down some crazy corporation, or something like that.

-What is your writing process?

I like to write the first chapter, then buy a notepad and write the first chapter again, but this time revised. Next, I'll buy myself a nice book to carry around; that's when I'll write the entire book. From there I type it. ( This is the most tedious part.) Then I use various publishing companies and marketing skills to promote my book.

-Do you remember the first story you ever read and the impact it had on you?

Believe it or not, I really did not like reading very much as a little kid. The first book that I read was about apples. From then on I started to enjoy reading.

-How do you approach cover design?

I like to draw, so I sketch a few designs and then put them into the computer to be digitized.

-What do you read for pleasure?

I like Science fiction, mainly.

-Describe your desk

It's a small one. It fits right next to my bed because I like to either draw or write before I go to sleep. I'm more of a night owl.

-When did you first start writing?

I believe it was around 8 years old.

-What's the story behind your latest book?

It's a mashup between every incomplete short story that I've written.

-What motivated you to become an indie author?

I saw how the traditional publishing is very time consuming, and I think that self-publishing is better.

-What is the greatest joy of writing for you?

As with many things I enjoy doing, it's the enjoyment of what my readers see that I love the most.

-What are you working on next?

I'm working on a survival book that follows the storyline of what happened in the previous book. It goes back to where all the trouble started.

-Who are your favorite authors?

I like the books that James Dashner has written. They are behind much of the inspiration for my books.
