Maria Hasten

The book "Essays from the Desert" was written over a course of years. Initially, I wrote it to help alleviate the personal pain I was feeling over the loss of my husband. Ultimately, it became a testimony to God's faithfulness.

It is my first book but hopefully not my last. I dedicate it to God and those who helped me and my son through this painful journey. But, I honestly believe that towards the end of this project it was God who directed these writings, not me.

It is my prayer that those who are struggling with their faith due to a horrible loss will find some comfort in the words of this book. No one should be made to feel left behind in their sorrow and pain. Ultimately, I found my own comfort and inspiration through the Lord. I pray others will also.
