Michael Harrower is Associate Professor of Archaeology in the Department of Near Eastern Studies at Johns Hopkins University. His research concentrates on water, agriculture, and early civilizations of Africa and the Middle East and has been funded by agencies including NASA, National Geographic, the Archaeological Institute of America, and the National Science Foundation. Most recently, he directs field research projects in Ethiopia and Oman that continue to discover important new archaeological sites and reveal key details of the ancient past with deep relevance in the present.
