James Albert Barnes Jr., Ph.D., may have retired from his long career in education, but he is still dedicated to teaching important life skills and lessons. The Little Mouse the Mouse unique stories show YOUNG CHILDREN, PRE-TEENS, TEENS, YOUNG PEOPLE and OLDER FOLKS too how to use logical thinking skills and tenacity to solve their problems, involving virtues, and a model to excellence and wisdom.

In ADVENTURES, Little Mouse must choose between saving his small friends or his precious home and possessions. In LEGACY, Little Mouse shares with humans his Model to Excellence, based on the scientific principal of the lever. In THOUGHTS, Little Mouse shares his unique wisdom for all to ponder. In the WHAT NOW? children's PICTURE BOOK and its accompanying COLORING BOOK, Little Mouse models a positive approach to confrontation or bullying, all done in catchy rhythm and repeated rhyming phrases and vivid pen & pencil drawings.

Barnes spent thirty-five years as an elementary school teacher, mentor, and administrator in Palermo, California. Barnes had a six-year tour with the US Air Force Reserves and received his bachelor’s degree in business from California State University, Chico. After deciding on a career in education, he received his master’s degree in curriculum and methods (with a specialty in reading diagnosis and remediation) also from California State University, Chico, and his doctorate in early childhood education and curriculum and instruction from the University of Oregon.
