Vernon L. Harper

Elder Vernon L. Harper started working in Christian ministry over twenty five years ago when he was ordained an Elder. He has served in Christian ministry as a Youth Pastor, Parrish Elder, Minister of Visitation and more. His passion has always been to bring a practical understanding of God’s Word to seeking hearts. He believes that Christian writing of any type is similar to sermon preparation: “When a preacher writes any type of text, whether poetry or scripture study, they are charged with revealing the truth of God’s word just as if they were standing in the pulpit and preaching on a Sunday morning.”

Elder Harper came to understand the urgent nature of a practical revelation of God applied to our daily life through growing up in Pittsburgh’s Hill District: “When you witness firsthand the rocks and shoals of life damaging and sinking lives, as well as people fighting to overcome these dangers, the Bible’s ability to rescue and heal is not theoretical but necessary for living.” He attributes much of these feelings to watching His mother pray her way through life’s circumstances as well as pray for her six. From the mean streets to combat tours in Vietnam Mrs Harper's children benefited from the practical application of Christian faith to daily living. " Seeing things like my mother praying at two and three in the morning – because she knew when her sons would be starting their day in Vietnam - ignited in me a passion to share the practical realities of the Christian faith."
