H. Sofia de Campos Pereira
(Auto-Biography)
I was born in Lisbon, Portugal in 1965 and moved to Canada at 10 years of age, where I lived for 20 years. After finishing a PhD in Genetics in 1995, I moved to Lisbon and completed a post-doc at the faculty of medicine studying human embryonic development. In 2002, after spending a few years in San Francisco California, I started working as a researcher at the University of Lisbon (Institituto Superior de Agronomia) where my research focused on grapevine and rye functional genomics, sustainable agriculture, and human toxicology.
In 2015, I changed my career objectives and enrolled in the Health Coaching program at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, New York. As a health coach, I apply a scientific approach towards a personalized “roadmap to health” that suits the unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and goals of my clients. I am also the directing manager at BULA Ltd. (http://beachultimate.org), a company whose mission is to develop the sport of beach ultimate and Spirit of the Game worldwide.
In "The food anthropologist ...a one year journey revisited" I describe a one-year long experience living through twelve popular diets including gluten free, dairy free, paleolithic, ketogenic, macrobiotic, vegan, whole foods, gluten & dairy free, intermittent fasting, and more. In this book, you can read how a quirky self-test exploring the science behind 12 popular drink and food fads turned into lessons for life.
My second book "Your Best Health", is a compilation of articles on health and wellness - meant to serve as a resource to help reach and/or maintain your best health. I hope you enjoy my books and look forward to keeping in touch with you in person or digitally through my website, Facebook, Instagram, Linked In, and/or Twitter.
