R. Eric Smith

R. Eric Smith is the editorial manager of the Joseph Smith Papers Project and of the Publications Division of the Church History Department, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Salt Lake City. In that role, he edits publications for the Church Historian's Press. Favorite editorial projects have included The First Fifty Years of Relief Society: Key Documents in Latter-day Saint Women's History; Council of Fifty, Minutes, March 1844-January 1846; and Saints at Devil's Gate: Landscapes along the Mormon Trail. He was previously an editor for the church's Curriculum Department, and before that he was a corporate attorney. He received a BA in English from Brigham Young University and a JD from the University of Utah.
