L. David McClain was born in Texas in the year 1950. I was a Marine from 1969 to1972,my M.O.S. was 2171 Optical Instrument Repair and I also studied electrical engineering at on base courses. I decided not to pursue that career, (math and I don't jive well together) so I moved into the aerospace industry making turbine blades for Pratt-Whitney jet engines. In my latter years I thought; wow it would be great to work in an auto parts store because of the 60s Mustangs I had at the time, (That was the worst mistake of my life).
After retirement, I was introduced to my son's Pit-Bull, I was like most people, this dog will kill and eat me. That is such an injustice to theses magnificent and loving animals. I have a passion for them now and try to advocate for them when ever I can. I care for 5 rescued Pit-Bulls now, and if I could, I would empty out the shelters. All the proceeds from these books goes to their care and health. In the course of interacting with the dogs living in my care it is obvious the intelligence they have, sometimes I can’t help but think they know exactly what I’m saying to them and they react accordingly. I’m not talking about training them; they have been trained to sit, lay down, rollover and that sort of thing. What I’m talking about is telling one of them to give something such as a bone to one of the others, and they do it. This may or may not be unusual, but for me, it is a testament of their intelligence. This is the basis of the dog communicating with humans in the story.
I am not a professional writer, but I give it my very best effort considering.
A recent accomplishment for myself is; I tested and passed for the General Class Amateur Radio License, so if you happen to be a Ham Operator my Call is W5XDM you never know who's on the airwaves and listening.
I have to sadly inform you all that on October 26, 2023, Maverick, my beloved companion of the last ten years, has crossed the rainbow bridge. He was eleven years old, but you never think of this happening, it was his time, but I believe he is waiting for me and when my time comes we will be together again forever, but for now I have to go on alone with a broken heart and the pain of losing a child.
