Buck Perley

Buck Perley was born and raised in New York City. Spending his summers in the Adirondacks in Upstate New York, he discovered a love for long distance hiking and travel. After graduating from the University of Toronto in 2010 with a double major in Economics and Chinese Language & Society, Buck moved to China where he lived for the next six years. He has hiked a number of long distance hiking trails including the Appalachian Trail, the John Muir Trail, and 600 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail. He has also done three cross-country motorcycle trips in the U.S. including an 8,600-mile circumnavigation in 2010 and in 2013, with his now wife Amy Mathieson, spent 5 months motorcycling through all 33 provinces of Mainland China, which is the subject of his first book: The Great Ride of China.

Today, Buck lives with his wife in California, where he works as a Software Engineer.
