David Hamil

“Get your motor runnin’, head out on the highway, lookin’ for adventure (from Steppenwolf’s “Born to be Wild” song).” Okay, that would be David on the wild or adventurous side, if you will. David’s an avid biker (i.e., motorcyclist) who thoroughly enjoys dancing the Tennessee valley twisties with his bride (Marina) when he’s not on his day job. For the unschooled in biker lingo, a twistie is a two-lane road with a lot of successive curves (or a twisty road for short). He has mentioned more than once that he’s going to have shirts made up for him and his girl that read “Riff” and “Raff,” respectively. Oh, my, “there goes the neighborhood,” as the saying goes.

Beyond his enjoyment of biking and finding that unique backwoods restaurant, David uses his bike as a ministry tool. Through his affiliation with a couple of motorcycle ministry groups, he has the God-given privilege to serve and minister at numerous Alabama correctional facilities throughout the year. In addition, David, Marina, and others in their biker group, fellowship and pray for the needy at hospitals and participate in numerous benefit events (e.g., children’s home, VFW post) during the year. When not on the bike, he and Marina may be found driving a canteen truck for the Salvation Army to help feed the hungry.

David’s day job is as a project management professional. He holds a couple of master’s degrees in systems analysis (computer stuff) and business administration. Although he has written quite a number of Christian-based newsletter articles, this is his first Christian book. Over his lengthy career, he has authored or coauthored a dozen or more technical white papers, a few of which have been published in a book and a magazine. David also holds a US Patent for some computer work that he co-designed and developed for the US Air Force back in the 1980s.

David and Marina enjoy living in the north Alabama area. They are blessed to have their two married daughters, with their families, living nearby. With their extended family a short bike ride away, they also stay quite busy with their seven energetic grandchildren’s activities.
