Joseph Cohen was born in Brooklyn, New York, to first generation Jewish parents.
Joseph wrote feature articles for Brooklyn Graphic and Sunset News while serving as the features editor for Kingsman, the Brooklyn College weekly student newspaper. He lived in Riverdale, New York for twenty eight years after his marriage and the birth of his son, Jared.
The love he had for writing and the fun he had working with other college students as a features editor inspired him to become a faculty advisor for student publications while a classroom teacher in middle and high school. The lessons Joseph learned about helping children build self-esteem and communication skills were invaluable as he raised his son.
For seven years he taught in New York City middle and high schools. During that period, Joseph became the faculty advisor for the Fordham Heights Chronicle, a student magazine published by Fordham Heights Academy, an alternative public high school at which he taught in Bronx, New York.
The organizational and time management skills Joseph developed as a classroom teacher helped him as an Information Technology Account Executive and Recruiter for three years to fulfill various job requirements. The relationship building skills that he honed while working with students, their parents and his colleagues were instrumental in helping him to source, interview, and market middle and senior level information technology candidates.
The success he enjoyed while recruiting and handling clients enabled him to train and manage a staff of information technology recruiters. Joseph’s love of teaching and excitement about helping his company expand were helpful as he designed and led training seminars for account executives and new recruiters on effectively marketing and preparing candidates during their interview process. The skills he developed as a Recruiting Manager were instrumental to later managing commercial real estate lease audit client accounts for almost three years.
The decline of the economy and the death of Joseph’s father led him to leave the corporate world and recreate himself professionally. His love of sports and passion for health was the foundation upon which he built for almost two years as a personal trainer to design, implement and refine physical fitness programs for New York Sports Club members who wanted to get in better shape, and live a healthier lifestyle. The knowledge he gained as a personal trainer enabled Joseph to integrate a preventative approach as a physical therapist assistant for almost a year as he implemented rehabilitative programs for a wide range of patients in a therapeutic setting.
Joseph’s success teaching and training and knowledge of wellness led him for another ten years to collaborate with and coach entrepreneurs to provide solutions for wealth creation, energy and performance, healthy aging, and weight management. He enjoyed designing and leading teleconference leadership training calls and loved presenting at quarterly training events to motivate leadership.
Joseph has for the past two years combined his passion for training and coaching entrepreneurs with his knowledge of safe money strategies to guide others toward financial freedom. His approach begins with cash flow analysis and lifestyle coaching. With an eye on creating leveraged tax-free retirement income, he has been providing customized solutions that focus on finding the money that most people lose unnecessarily or unknowingly. Currently Executive Vice President at Freedom Wealth Services, Joe resides in Jacksonville, Florida.
