Tracey Ann Clements was born in Southern England, where she still resides. She attended university as a mature student, where she gained both an MA in English Literature and a long-suffering but devoted husband. She continues to read both English and World literature at every opportunity. Although fundamentally a genre series, The Jim Swimmer books also focus on diverse issues such as technology and modern life, aging and bereavement, the game of chess and the process of writing. In addition to this project, she is working on a ten chapter non-fiction book on the role of chess in literature and modern culture, as well as a serious novel- which has been in progress for more than ten years, and may take another twenty to complete.
