I have two very different writing interests - Middle-Grade fiction and Management Studies

‘The Piano Playing Fur Coat and Other Stories’

Members of an extended family, the grandparents and the family tree are introduced, then the first group of individuals are each given their own chapter about the unusual and sometimes dangerous events they have been part of.

‘Fiona, Issy, Zac and Jane, then Tommy Meets a Hurricane’

This second book is an unrelated short collection of fictional tales, this time in verse, tell the stories of five children and their families, their actions and their achievements when they are caught up in some frightening events.

Management studies

There is still, in the 2020s, much staff management which is equivalent to ‘sausages cooked on a disposable barbecue- dangerously underdone, with alarming consequences pending’. [part of a quote from Edith Pritchett, context re-appropriated]

How we are treated by others, as the majority of us can attest, underpins all other aspects of life. How we are treated by our colleagues and, particularly, supervisors and leaders at work, greatly affects our enjoyment of a very large part of life. It affects our enjoyment of work but also our engagement, commitment, performance and discretionary effort and, hence, team and company performance.
