Susanne Claxton

Susanne has been teaching a variety of philosophy courses, both lower and upper division, at the college level for over 17 years at different institutions across the U.S. Her educational background includes a B.A. in Letters with a minor in Judaic Studies from the University of Oklahoma, an M.A. in Philosophy from Oklahoma State University, and a PhD in Philosophy from the University of New Mexico. She reads for the purposes of text translation in Ancient Greek, Classical Latin, and Biblical Hebrew, and is currently studying German. Her areas of specialization include Ancient Greek Philosophy, Phenomenology and Existentialism, especially Nietzsche, Heidegger, Sartre, and Agamben, Environmental Philosophy, and Ecofeminism. She enjoys giving public talks and lectures and participating in academic conferences. She also teaches and performs tribal belly dance and does work in the area of women's spirituality. She enjoys creating performance art and also making art from bones.
