Bill Dring is a writer, a poet, and a blues harmonica player. Before taking up writing full time, Bill had numerous jobs, including factory worker, copywriter, graphic designer, analyst for the police, and eventually settling into the world of IT as a business analyst. Throughout all those years, Bill was writing and has a large portfolio of unpublished work that may one day be available.
Born in London and widely travelled, living and working in France, Spain, the USA, and the UK. Currently, he is living in Hanoi, Vietnam, where he writes, runs a monthly poetry night called "RED HOT POETS," and plays blues harmonica with "The Skinny Jim Band." In the UK, Bill played with Supergrass' Mick Quinn in the "DB Band" for eight years. Music has always been a big part of his life, and there are many references to it hidden away in his writing.
CRIME FICTION
His latest publication is a different shade of crime thriller called "Family Affair". It is the first in a series of books featuring Tom Hunter. The mighty River Thames runs through this crime thriller, taking the reader on a chilling journey deep into some very dark places.
"Bidonville," the second book in the series, is almost complete. This will be available in early 2025.
POETRY
"A Head Full of Starlings" is a collection of short, illustrated poems that was originally published in 1986. At that time, it was thought to be one of the first books to be produced using a computer for the typesetting and illustrations.
Recently published is a collection of poems called "Everything is Overrated Two" with more gems to move you in every direction, including many poems written while in Vietnam. You don't need to be a poetry lover to enjoy Bill's collections, but you probably will be after reading any of Bill's poetry books.

Here are a few comments given in reviews for "Everything is Overrated.
"This is the first book of any genre where I have read from cover to cover and then turned straight back to page one to read it right through again."
"I was not prepared to be so drawn in by the fabulous prose introductions to each poem, little vignettes of a varied, bohemian life."
"While there is a healthy dose of cynicism running through the book, there is also wit and a strong sense of a life well lived."
