John Henry Queripel

John Queripel is a minister of the Uniting Church in Australia, author, playwright, adult and secondary teacher, hypnotherapist and community activist. He has worked in the prison system, the university sector and as a teacher and is the recipient of a number of awards for his community involvement. His community involvement has included solidarity work with Indigenous people, peace and justice work, climate-change protest and advocacy for the marginalized. Such has not always sat well with church authorities and he has often courted controversy.

John Queripel is a writer, singer-songwriter, (find his music on youtube) a poet and artist and enjoys riding a Malibu. He has long held an interest in making scholarship accessible to the ordinary person, especially in the arcane area of theology and biblical studies. He also has an extensive involvement in inter-faith dialogue and has headed up a number of such bodies.

He has two books to his name, the first an examination of the German theologian, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, martyred during WWII for his involvement in the plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler, 'Bonhoeffer; Prophet and Martyr' (play and essay), the second, 'On the Third Day: Re-looking at the Resurrection' in which he challenges us to return to an earlier view of Christ's resurrection by which that resurrection is in non-physical form to the heavens, rather than what later became Christian orthodoxy, resurrection in corporeal form to the earth.
